Saying Good-Bye to an Old Friend

Rosie

We have a very small community here at Rock Haven Family Nudist Park and when something happens, it affects us all. Last night, our next door neighbors’ 15 year old basset/hound dog, Rosie, jumped off the couch and broke her hip.

The vet didn’t think that she would make it through an operation and the decision was made to put her down.
We are all devastated-she was a very big part of our lives.

Rosie had become an icon in this park. She was long and had short stubby legs, and you could hear her howling excitedly when her parents came home from a shopping trip. Her hair had grown grey in the last few years but you could still see the light brown & white spots on her aged body.

Visitors would stop by, while walking the hiking trail, to say hello to her and rub her ears. Rosie liked that. Her tail was the most active part of her old body and she wagged it a lot.

Rosie was well loved and she will be missed.

Nudists + Love = Marriage

Just Married sign

One of our neighbors and his girlfriend decided-at the last minute-to get hitched on Friday. And to celebrate, a member/friend decided to put some cans behind their golf cart to help them celebrate.  Unfortunately, it was a bit too cool outside to be totally nude, but it didn’t damper the happy couple’s excitement.

Here is a pic of their cart:

Just Married!

The couple took a ride around the park to let everyone know about their happy news.

It made such a racket on the gravel that we thought it was a thunder storm!

It was attached very quickly and of course, duct tape was involved.

Later last night there was a party at the newlywed’s home  to celebrate the happy union with friends and neighbors.

We love a happy ending!

Last Days of Nude Sunbathing

sun6

I just got back from nude sunbathing at our pool and was pleasantly surprised that there were about 20 other sun worshipers there. It was great to see old friends even though the season has officially ended.  A couple of them had even traveled a couple of hours to be nude here just for the day. Heck, there is one couple that drove for 6 hours. Now that is dedication! Also, I think they are winterizing their weekend place, too.

We have a patch of mint growing right outside the gate of the pool and I snagged a few of the sprigs. I will dry them and use the leaves in my hot cocoa (among other things) this winter. There are so many cool things about living here!

We have had a great week of warm weather sunshine. It’s kind of odd happening in October but this nudist community is taking full advantage of it. Folks have come for the weekend to celebrate it and last night there were parties going on all over the park. I just saw a couple of ladies walking around nude picking up kindling. Looks like there will be a few fires flaring up tonight, too.

There are games of corn hole being played, huddles of folks chatting under umbrella’s, and the die hard sunbathers sweating like crazy. It’s almost like summer!

My hubby is even working in the yard and feeding the last of the mosquito’s. That’s one thing that is funny about working outside in the nude. Sometimes you get bug bites in the weirdest places!

There will only be a couple more days of warmth and then a cold front is moving in next week. I guess it really is the last days of nude sunbathing. But if we get a fluke of warm weather in the next few months, you better believe I will be right back out there soaking it up!

I love this place and I love living nude here.  Life is good!

End of Nude Season 2011

2011 Park Closes

Yesterday, our Nudist Park closed its gates to non-members for the winter. It was a sad day for me. And it was also a happy new beginning as well. Our season begins on April 15th and ends on October 2nd and this is our first time to be living here when it ended. It went out with a nude whimper.

The sun was shining; the sky was so blue and cloudless that it looked like a bright sunny summer day. Except for the fact that the temps didn’t get much over 60 and we only had about 3 visitors at the park. Not really ideal for being socially nude!

And it was on a Sunday, which meant that we were playing killer darts in the nude. It’s a tradition at this park-marking the end of the weekend- that a lot of us look forward to. Of course, it was indoors this week due to the chill in the air (but we were still naked!).

A few members were here to winterize their weekend places and it was odd to see folks with clothes on. Heck, my hubby even put the cover on our golf cart. That really makes it official-winter is on its way. But I was so glad it was on the cart this morning while getting the morning paper! It was cold out there.

I am looking forward to socially nude community events coming up, too. This will be our first time to celebrate all the biggies (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and NYE) in the nude with our friends & neighbors.

We are already decorating our yards for Halloween and its so much fun. The chili and dessert cook-off is right before the Halloween party and I can’t wait to enter my dessert (hubby will be entering the chili part).

At our last home, in the city, we didn’t know who our neighbors were and only recognized a few faces as we passed in the hallway. We never had any get-togethers to celebrate anything with them. And we couldn’t be nude (indoors or outside) due to the skyscrapers being in our back yard and having huge windows without blinds.

Yep, it’s pretty cool being a part of this nudist neighborhood; knowing everyone’s names, and actually being part of a caring, loving community. I like it a lot. I can’t wait to see what happens next!

So long Nude Season2011…

Nudist Community = Family

We are well settled into our home now and getting to know our new community better. I didn’t realize it until this past weekend but these people are our new family.

Let’s face it, we are social animals. And when we are introduced into a new ‘pack’, so to speak, we find out quickly who we can depend on.

Now, what is MOST interesting about this new family, is that it is an extended family. It includes, not just the full time residents that live here, but also people that visit frequently (and sometimes not so frequently).

We have been members of this nudist park for six years now. And for the first five years, we met and made friends with tons of people from all over the world. Yet, a few of them are here a lot more often than the others and we consider them our friends.

Through the years we have shared with them-new loves, deaths, health issues and economic woes. We have laughed and cried together. We’ve see their children grow each year and wonder how they got so tall over the winter. We compare new scars and inquire about ill parents.

And every once in a while, these friends end up in the hospital. That happened about a month ago, to a dear friend of ours. This past weekend, she was back. And this ENTIRE community (those that live here and those that don’t), embraced this woman with open arms.

Every time we saw her, she was surrounded by people checking in on her. She was laughing and hugging everyone. Friends told her how much she was missed and meant it. You could see it in their eyes. This wasn’t just a show. It was for real. They really cared about her and what she went through.

It was very touching. And you know what? Everyone was nude and it didn’t make any difference. That might surprise folks that don’t ‘get’ social nudism. They think we are all having sex in the middle of the pool and swapping partners. Bull Hockey! We are a real community and we are a family. Get to know us. You just might learn something about yourself.
